Thoughts as we enter the time of thinning veils and winter darkness. As we enter this time of year, we are closer to our ancestors, and it is beneficial to look deeply into our own nature and the nature of our beliefs and habits. Beliefs and Habits are mostly learned from our family holding, and how that holding has flowed through our lineage.

The practices that can help us discern our true nature from our beliefs and habits start with the practice of self-inquiry. This courageous exploration can reveal true strengths and gifts you carry that are your true genius, as in the Greeks' description of daimōn.

There are several practices I use daily to help with self-inquiry. Here are two links for you, so that you can try them out for yourself.

Diamond Approach Self-Inquiry:

The Work by Byron Katie:

During Tuesday Night Shamanic Practices, we review these practices as well as many others to get to the root of what holds us back from living into our genius.

The brilliance of this work is that we can clearly address what is in our way, whether it is energetic, ancestral, and/or how our mind has been keeping us small.

Here is a ceremonial gift for you to use to honor you as a brilliant Being, to honor your ancestors, and all the gifts that are brought to your life through them.

Tend to YOU as your Beloved and as your Ancestor:

  • Draw a bath; add your favorite essential oils or bath salts. Consider adding a bath milk to soften the rough edges of your being.

  • As you run the water, start with the intention to support you as your beloved.

  • Then imagine and sense that you are the love you have been waiting for.

  • Feel, sense, and intend what you want to call in for this sacred bath.

  • As you gather these energies, draw an infinity symbol in the water, allowing the intentions to flow through you to the water.

  • When the bath is ready, before stepping in, ground yourself and anoint yourself with a grounding essential oil (if you are allergic, use olive oil or an oil that does not cause a reaction).

  • Use your senses to set the stage for this ceremony. Smell the oil; feel the grounding. Then, when you are ready, intentionally take a deep cleansing breath in and release it, letting go of all the pasts denseness; then, with your awareness in the present moment, step into the bath.

  • Sink into the caress of the water.

  • Allow all that blocks you to fall away, to be absorbed into the water, salts, and herbs in the bath.

  • Breathe in the new, fresh aliveness that is a gift for your beloved, for YOU! For your ancestors. Thanking all that is, feel into the sensation of loving yourself as the divine.

Take your time in this ceremony and honor yourself and your ancestors. Call forward your daimōn/genius; ask it how to live into its brilliance. How do you take this work, this revealing into winter, to support your slowing down and rest, so as to return with renewed energy for the coming spring blossoming?

Rest in the answers that come.
