"The work Rising Fire led us through in Ecuador was deeply expansive. I connected to Water, Fire, Air, and Earth in a tangible and intimate way that I had not been able to reach before. I discovered a raw need to be wild- to live my life informed by the elements and True Nature. I’m living with a new freedom to dance, sing and trust my own knowing."

"My vision quest experience was not what I expected. I spent months beforehand changing my diet to prepare for the fasting. I went on my first solo backpacking trip on a mountain. Read a book on vision quests that even wrote about how a vision comes in ways you might not expect. I still found myself in the sea of the unknown. What happened was who I took myself to be was no longer the same. I had climbed up on a ridge and camped out for three days, fasting with just myself to be with. I sat with the emotions of sadness, anger, hatred, love, and joy. I made a birthing circle with my mesa rocks. I rattled until the earth opened and I could feel myself becoming one with vibrating, pulsating beat of life. I was given the name HeartBeat and found my path to walk as a medicine healer.
“HeartBeat. HeartBeat. Feel me beat. Beating with the earth. Beating, pulsing. Feel the blood flow with life. HeartBeat. HeartBeat. Beating. Beating. I am you. You are me. Can you feel the world pulsing, beating. Mother, I am your daughter, HeartBeat. Father, I am your daughter HeartBeat. Beating. Beating.
Breathe with ease. Be free with the beat inside of you. Come dance with me. Sing with me. Feel the
Beat! Beat! Beat! Beat! Heat! Heart! HeartBeat! I am here!”
The last night spent on my ridge was filled with roaring winds, pelting rains, trees crashing and poison oak in my left eye. The morning came with a break in the rain and down I came with the burning, stinging in my eye. My journey into the city to the ER felt like a deconstruction of how I see myself in the environment around me. I got what I needed and came back to the safety of my tribe.
In the weeks that followed this experience, my unknowing became uncomfortable. I felt what it is like to embody “sacred discomfort”. Who am I now and how to be in this world? I found myself rocking and realized my body was actually moving to the heartbeat that was me. With one foot and then the other I could feel the courage, strength to move in a medicine way and be with what is true for me. There became a clarity of how I prefer to be and the ability to sit with the “sacred discomfort” when I do not know."

"I was there. Now I’m gone. Left some spirit to carry on. Those who’ve been there know it’s swell. Those who don’t will have to fly there as well."

"If you are looking for a life changing experience, I would strongly encourage you to join the Ecuadorian adventure. Our eight-person team, led by Rosemary Beam and Christina, our Ecuadorian guide,e took us through several indigenous communities of San Clemente on the side of the Imbambura volcano, Salasaca located in the Umbatta region of Ecuador and Ti’Inkias, the Achuar village located deep in the Amazon region of Ecuador near the Peruvian border.
Although the journey gave us an amazing exposure to a variety of regions and cultures of the Ecuadorian people, the real gift was the love and support we received from Rosemary, Christina, and Eli as they guided us deep into the Amazon jungle to share in the daily life of the Achuar people and to participate in a very powerful Ayahuasca ceremony. This was my 5th journey to South America and my third journey to Ecuador. I have travelled with John Perkins to Peru and Colombia, and I have travelled to the Shuar territory of the Amazon with the Pachamama Alliance organization, and I would have to say that this was the most transformative experience of all of my trips. I am deeply grateful to all of my fellow travelers who were willing to open their hearts to one another and to Rosemary, Eli and Christina who completely supported us in every way as this adventure unfolded for us."

"My Vision Quest pushed me to my physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual limits and that is exactly what I was hoping for. It was at this threshold where ego was left behind and the veil between the two worlds became transparent and that is where the magic happened. During the three days prior to the Vision Quest, Rosemary assisted us in creating a sacred container in which we were able to prepare for our three days on the mountain. This was an essential stage, allowing us to deconstruct our attachments to the outer world and begin to go deeper into those aspects of ego and shadow that we were being invited to explore.
Upon our return to the tribe, we were greeted with such love and support by Rosemary, Chloe, Sarah, and Eli. This was one of the most profound experiences in my life and I will always be grateful to my Vision Quest tribe and to our amazing support team."

"I made the decision to go because I really felt called to it. My Soul was calling- calling for an adventure. An adventure that could not be filled in the usual way of seeking. Being bonded to the constraints of real life bullshit, left me with very little room for me to express and really experience.....myself.
I embarked on this Quest to shake up “my real life”. To break out of the space that I had outgrown. I need a life with heart! The Quest and the medicine that came with it, gave me a Life with sounds.....with drum beats that shake the spirit....a way of life that promotes emotional expressions! I wanted to make music with what was coming from the depths of my being. I know I made the right choice. Because the quest spoke to the way I want to live. I am not the same person who walked into the forest. Something has changed. The boy who ventured across the threshold had died. Upon the journey, something inside of me was growing and being strengthened by my quest! On the trail home, I felt something had been brought to life and I was the vessel. My quest... was not only spent in the woods with the tribe. But my quest is still unfolding each day, in different ways."

"So I had first heard of Native American vision quests in the early 90s. I knew really nothing of them from the few books I found at the time. The Web was not developed to anything resembling what we have today. Nonetheless, I did try venturing on my own vision quest at that time. It was less than successful but it did certainly confirmed my desire to reach into a spiritual foundation for understanding and experiencing life.
I'm here at Rising Fire because I'm still on that trek that can easily be traced back 35 years.
I first came to Rising Fire like about exactly a year earlier, in November 201,5 at an intro to journeying (the upper world) class. I had no idea what it was. I don't even recall exactly why I went, but I do recall a certain anticipation despite all the dead ends I have already explored. I feel like I approach each new idea with an open-minded skepticism, like let's wait and see. It's like... I know there's something real somewhere. I just have to keep turning over every unlikely stone till I find it.
Anyway, so. ... I was led on a journey up the world tree down into the ground and into the roots, up the trunk into the branches and out onto the leaves. Then we were to wait for a bird to fetch us up into our journey. And, son of a bitch, one showed up. It was a blackish brown with a large wingspan. I wondered if it were an eagle or a falcon, but I was like that can be revealed later. Let's go for a ride. God, it was so bïtchin. I was riding on its neck. I was a little nervous asking frantically, 'Are you my friend?' I could easily continue on with this story, but this is a Vision Quest Testimonial.
Suffice it to say, there was paydirt here after so many years of digging dry clay in search of something to give meaning to this life of grief and distress.
Well getting to the essence of this 'thin', I continued bumbling around here n there and did more of the Rising Fire program along with others and basically concluded that while there is spirit here, I think I can do better than tapping into a system that breathes into rocks and venerates sand, stone and creature. That ideal is likely a hanger on of 'Take dominion of the earth and multiply', which is nothing more than Western society's excuse to rape n pillage both people and planet.
It was at this point, in early June, that I saw the Vision Quest flyer, and it lit up like fire in my hands. I knew instantly this was for me. I signed up and paid in full within the day, no question.
Odd, it was only a month ago. It could have been a decade as the fine details fade from my mind. The purpose and the effect still plow through; to what yet remains to be seen. There is no doubt that something within has shifted and changed. The sense of change is the only constant at this point."
